Legacy Company Calls For Interest In Olympic Stadium

The Olympic Park Legacy Company has taken a major step forward in securing a lasting 2012 legacy by calling for expressions of interest in the Olympic Stadium.

Organisations or consortia, interested in managing, operating in, or locating to the Stadium after the London 2012 Games will have eight weeks to come forward with their interest and initial views. This could include sporting, community, education, visitor attraction and commercial uses.

Deciding the future of the iconic centrepiece is one of the Company's top priorities and Olympic Park Legacy Company's aim is to reach a settled position by the end of March 2011.

Andrew Altman, Chief Executive of the Olympic Park Legacy Company, said:

"The Olympic Stadium is a truly iconic structure that should be a focal point for sport and community-led events including schools, clubs and creative and social enterprises.

"A successful Stadium legacy is vital to the Company's long term aspirations for the Olympic Park. We want to provide local people with significant improvements in health and well-being, education, skills and training, job opportunities, cultural entitlements, housing, social integration and environment."

Interested parties are asked to consult the Company's Memorandum of Information (MOI) which will have full Stadium detail and data, the vision for the wider Olympic Park and instructions for formulating a response.

The MOI includes possible options for varied capacity and design configurations. These are not exclusive as the Olympic Park Legacy Company is open to other technically-feasible and commercially-viable approaches. The MOI also summaries the 2012 Games' Bid commitments relating to the Stadium and invites interested parties to respond accordingly. The Company will consider the extent to which any long term solution reflects the intent of the 2012 Bid.

The Company is committed to following EU procurement regulations. The Olympic Park Legacy Company's expressions-of-interest process is being advertised on the website of the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), as well as in national and trade media. It is also being proactively marketed to industry sectors.

The soft market testing will be completed by the middle of June, at which point the Company will move to the next stage of securing the Stadium legacy, which could then include a public procurement exercise.

The Legacy Company has been reviewing all legacy plans as part of its set up. This includes the optimum capacity and use of the Olympic Stadium, as well as the further development of the Legacy Masterplan Framework - an overarching spatial plan for the Olympic Park site.

Interested parties can access the MOI and register their interest by clicking on the Olympic Stadium Soft Market Testing Exercise box on the Company's website homepage.
