Following agreement with and permission from, Her Majesty the Queen, the British Olympic Association and the International Olympic Committee, we are pleased to announce that from 2013 the Olympic site will be named the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The combination of these two powerful associations will be a world first – building on the royal family’s long association with and support for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as London’s unique position of being the only city to have hosted
the Olympic Games on three occasions.
The combined Olympic and Royal heritage emphasises quality, history and innovation all at the same time. It will enhance the offer for the Park by appealing to international visitors and UK nationals of a variety of ages and backgrounds.
This name reflects a real tangible legacy from the 2012 Games, and reflects our plans for making the Park one of Europe’s premier visitor destinations and a new thriving community with family homes, jobs, sport and leisure activities at its heart.
You will find below more information and resources following today’s launch about our plans for the future.
