The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games have created a unique opportunity to provide a lasting legacy for the communities of east London. Significant public funding has been invested in developing world-class venues, parklands and infrastructure on the Park and we aim to maximise this investment for the widest possible benefit.

Our legacy ambition for the Press Centre and Broadcast Centre is to create a vibrant and active new commercial district offering a wide range of sustainable employment opportunities, building on the area’s cutting-edge technological assets, as well as the diverse activities in neighbouring Hackney Wick. After the Games, the area will benefit from excellent communications infrastructure, attractive parklands and a canal-side setting. The existing buildings are flexible and can be used for a range of different opportunities.

In October 2011, we invited bids for legacy uses of the Press Centre and Broadcast Centre on the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This process closed on 2nd December 2011 and in January 2012, the Legacy Company announced the shortlist of the potential long-term tenants for the buildings after the Games.

The shortlist is: iCity, Oxylane Group and UK Fashion Hub. You can read more about it in our News section

We will now review their bids in detail and enter into further negotiations to fully interrogate their proposals to create the Park’s first commercial district.

We set-up a dedicated microsite to support this process which provided further information about the Press Centre and Broadcast Centre along with information about their location and the Park itself. You can view the microsite at:

We also developed a dataroom, where you can find more detailed information on the opportunity:

The marketing of the Press Centre and Broadcast Centre commenced on Monday 3rd October 2011 and formally closed on Friday 2nd December 2011, with the shortlist announced on 19th January 2012. CB Richard Ellis were appointed as our partner agent to support us in this process.
