The business of legacy: investing in London's future

The Olympic Park will be one of London's most important regeneration projects over the next 25 years. At the heart of the capital's growth this century, the Park will be a unique undertaking and a catalyst for the transformation of east London.

Distinguished by sport facilities and leisure attractions in an extensive housing-led mixed-use development, the Park will become a dynamic metropolitan hub and an unrivalled destination in which to live, work and play. Set in and around new areas of open spaces and waterways, it will become one of the best connected urban areas in the UK and Europe.

A wealth of opportunity

Immediately after the Games, the area will already boast five world-class sports venues, with around 2,800 new homes at the Athletes Village, a premium utilities and communications infrastructure, greatly improved bridge, cycle, pedestrian and road connections with newly invigorated waterways and some of the best transport links in Europe.

All this will be in addition to the commercial investment from Westfield to develop Stratford City. This will include Europe's largest indoor shopping centre, as well as significant residential and commercial options. It means the Olympic Park and its surrounding areas will offer some of the most significant investment opportunities in the UK over the coming decades - important for the future of London and the national economy.

As the body responsible for the long-term planning, development, management and maintenance of the Park and its facilities after the London 2012 Games, the Olympic Park Legacy Company will work with private and third sector partners to create a lasting legacy by developing the Park to create this new metropolitan area of the capital.
