London's new event playground: events in Olympic Park

The Legacy Company's aim is for the Olympic Park to become a highly active, enjoyable and exciting place, and a destination for a diverse range of events that will bring local residents and visitors to the parkland and venues throughout the year. 

The programme for the Park will feature a variety of events catering to the diversity of east London's residents and attracting visitors from across London, the UK, and abroad. The programme will comprise a vast range of sport, cultural, community, and business events, from small local festivals to large-scale conferences to prestigious world championships. Events will be held in each of the Park's five world-class venues as well as various outdoor locations.

Excitement, opportunity, accessibility

The Legacy Company is working with the Greater London Authority (GLA), Events for London and other partners to develop an innovative programme of events that will animate the Park both before and after the Games - maximising the use and viability of the venues and other facilities, creating and sustaining a positive reputation, and serving as a catalyst for the regeneration of the Lower Lee Valley and east London.

Now to 2012

While successfully staging the 2012 Games is paramount, it is important to us to help provide opportunities for local residents and visitors to see and experience the Park as soon and often as possible. We aspire to support mass participation events that allow Park access to a wide-range of participants. We are also currently liaising with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and other partners to create visitor opportunities within the Games test event schedule.

2012 to 2013

The post-Games transformation will be a highly complex undertaking. We will continue to work closely with the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) to open up the Park as soon as possible and begin to stage events.

2013 to 2018

During this period the events programme will be in full swing, helping to establish the Park as a 'must see, must return' destination for local residents and visitors alike.
