Employment

Creating work and business opportunities

East London is an area of investment and economic growth. The Park and its key employment hubs will be part of this, creating 8 – 10,000 jobs, located in inspiring modern workspaces within an inviting parkland setting.

Building on strengths

We firmly believe that it is important to encourage the many existing successful industries around the area, such as the creative industries in Hackney Wick. It is important to make sure that development is as sensitive as possible to the people who live and work there already.

We’re also making sure that the Games venues can be adapted afterwards for business where possible. We want high-quality business accommodation, with well-chosen locations to attract investment, expand employment opportunities and encourage economic growth.

Throughout all of this development, we will support the work of the host boroughs and other partners who will continue to ensure that local communities have access to training opportunities to develop new skills.

Plans and proposals

After the Games, the Park could provide space and venues for a variety of businesses and industries, including:

  • creative, arts and media
  • education and training
  • retail and leisure
  • sport and recreation
  • conservation and environmental
  • professional and business services
  • hospitality and tourism

By developing a new metropolitan area that’s geared for business, we hope to create a unique set of employment opportunities to benefit the economy of the whole of the Lower Lee Valley.
