The Olympic Park Legacy Company was established in May 2009 and is the public sector, not-for-profit organisation responsible for the long-term planning, development, management and maintenance of the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its facilities after the London 2012 Games. Plans for the Park are more advanced than any previous host Olympic City and are set to deliver an exciting mix of new homes, jobs and leisure opportunities to the local area.
It is the task of the Legacy Company to transform and integrate one of the most challenged areas in the UK into sustainable and thriving neighbourhoods. This will create a new metropolitan centre across the Lower Lea Valley in East London – an inclusive community of up to 8,000 new homes, a thriving commercial district and a must-see visitor destination.
The Legacy Company is working with a wide range of partners from both the public and private sectors to ensure a successful legacy from the Games and as part of this, act as a catalyst for regeneration in East London, ensuring that its activities help to connect existing and future residents and businesses to the Park.
In autumn 2012, a transformation phase of works will convert the Olympic Park from its Games-time layout into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This will include the conversion of the five permanent sporting venues and the creation of the development platforms to accommodate residential, commercial and community uses, and supporting infrastructure including new schools, health centres and playgrounds.
The Legacy Company is looking to appoint a delivery partner for a pilot project that will maximise training, apprenticeship and job opportunities for targeted community groups through this transformation phase.
The delivery partner will support our transformation contractors and their subcontractors to enhance their workforce targets and support more people into training, apprenticeship and job opportunities within the construction sector. The project dove-tails into the GLA Construction Employer Accord (CEA) programme and, as such, the successful bidder will be required to be a delivery partner for CEA on behalf of the Olympic Park Legacy Company.
